Mike Ley, a designer and alum of Wired and Bon Appétit, which is where we met, designed my book Good Drinks—and he continues to work with me on the art for this newsletter.
If you haven’t noticed, we’re using a new pattern, all of which Ley created or sourced, each month, and May’s (pictured above) was one of my favorites. “Can you tell what it is?” he asked me before sending the below photo.
They're "packing tape scraps [I made] into tiles,” he said. “I have a grip of books like this... This crazy slow collage, if you will... Just throwing scraps of things into compositions, probably a few pieces of something a day for future remixing. Trash into treasure."
